Estate and divorce planning for life's next chapter

After years in family law and divorce litigation, I’ve seen what goes wrong—and how to prevent it. Today, I focus on estate planning and divorce coaching, helping clients move forward with clarity instead of conflict. Whether you’re protecting your assets or rebuilding after divorce, I combine legal insight with practical, straightforward guidance so you can make confident decisions, avoid unnecessary stress, and create lasting stability
—without stepping into a courtroom.
If you’re ready to create an estate plan, help a loved one get their affairs in order, or need guidance through divorce or post-divorce decisions, you don’t have to navigate it alone. As an experienced estate planning attorney and divorce coach, I provide clear, practical support to help you move forward with confidence. I offer flat-fee estate planning services and personalized divorce coaching—both in-person and virtual—so you get tailored guidance for your unique situation, your family, and Your Next Chapter.
Martha J. Sullivan is a member of the Florida Bar and Minnesota Bar and is a Certified Divorce Coach and Mediator. She currently serves on the Client Security Board for the State of Minnesota, the Dakota County Bar Association Board,
and First District Ethics Committee.

This initial meeting focuses on the client’s goals, concerns, family dynamics, financial situation, and the issues most likely to affect the divorce process. We will talk about emotional readiness, communication planning, and practical decision-making, with an overview on potential outcomes. By the end of the consultation, clients often leave with a clearer understanding of the process and a more informed plan for next steps.

I provide a series of sessions that help parents improve communication, set healthy boundaries, and co-parent more effectively with their children’s well-being at the center. I support clients through difficult conversations, scheduling issues, and parenting decisions with practical guidance. My goal is to reduce conflict, create more consistency, and help families move forward with greater clarity and stability.

Even after the paperwork is signed and your attorney’s role is done, many people find themselves asking, “Now what?” The legal process may be over—but the emotional, practical, and personal rebuilding is just beginning. Through intentional, one-on-one life coaching, particular to this situation, I help you navigate this in-between space with clarity and confidence. Together, we move beyond survival mode, helping you make grounded decisions, rediscover who you are, and create a life that feels steady, aligned, and fully your own.

I spent many years of my career planning for and appearing in trial. I have seen what goes wrong when people make emotional decisions without clear guidance, and that usually means more time in the courtroom and huge legal bills. Now, as a certified divorce coach, I help clients separate and divorce with strategy, emotional clarity and practical tools -so you can protect your future without prolonged battles.
Unlike therapy or traditional legal representation, my coaching combines deep legal insight with practical, forward-focused support. Many clients will tell you it has saved them tens of thousands in legal fees and years of stress.

For clients who need more than the basics, advanced trust planning can create an added layer of protection - designed to preserve assets, reduce future exposure, and keep your plan going strong under pressure. This is advanced, customized work: we look at your goals, your risks, your timeline; then build a structure that fits.
When aging, illness or cognitive issues make it unsafe for someone to make decisions, families need a clear, legally recognized decision-maker - especially with healthcare providers, financial institutions, and care facilities. Guardianship and Conservatorship can provide that authority, helping crisis-driven choices and protect against exploitation. I guide families with vulnerable adults in situations involving care facilities, urgent consent/placement decisions, financial decision-making authority, and long-term planning.
